5 Stars Awesome!
I bought this camera box to take on a recent cruise, and I am AMAZED at the picture quality! Wow what a neat box that is easy to use and very functional. Make your settings, stick it in the case and go. We went to StingRay City in Cayman, and have the best pictures of the rays! I am extremely satisfied with the product, and have recommended it to everyone I know. Worth the money!!!!!!

5 Stars Phenomenal Product
I wish I had purchased this a few years ago when I went backpacking around Europe. I wasted money on 4 disposable point and shoot cameras for underwater use, and only ONE picture turned out. The benefits of having your own digital camera outweighs the cost of this unit. If you take a picture underwater, you can delete it, as this case allows you to use all the controls on the camera. And, you have a nice big screen to look at instead of a optical viewfinder.

First, this case is made for your specific model. If you don’t know what WP-DCxx model you need, go to Canon’s website to look it up. But, DONT BUY IT ON THERE! I spent [...] bucks less on Amazon’s site than I would have buying it directly from Canon.

I purchased this for use in a week for my honeymoon, so I haven’t used it submerged in deep ocean water. However, I’ve soaked it in water and tried it under streaming water and it works great. I don’t think you’ll really need the silicone grease if you’re not submerging it, though.

From my research, I heard that the unit may fog a little due to the heat of the camera and cold ambient water. I’ve read/heard of a few tips that can mitigate this. First, you can put some anti-fog on the interior glass by the camera lens. Another clever way around fog is to a desiccant packet in the case when using it. (Don’t put a huge one, but one of those packets that comes with electronics or some condiments. Problem solved.

You may also want to purchase the weight set so the unit doesn’t float underwater. It comes with a bunch of plates to screw onto the bottom of this unit to achieve neutral buoyancy. The set is kind of expensive, but from previous experience, it makes for a much more pleasant dive.

[...]

All in all, this is a great unit. Recommended for parents that want to take pictures of their kids in the pool, people who love to snorkel and dive, and beach bums who want to protect their cameras from sand.

**** UPDATE ****

I just returned from my trip. This thing is awesome. I took at least 200 pictures and nearly all of them turned out great. They definitely fogged a bit when I was in the ocean. So, definitely use the desiccant packs or some sort of anti-fog. I ended up leaving my camera in the case, regardless of beach, pool, ocean. The the ability to see your viewfinder is great, and you get the advantage using it to take video. If you are on the beach or the ocean, definitely wash out the yellow gasket if you open it. Its amazing how sand gets into everything, but if you rinse it out, take out the yellow gasket and clean it, you will have no problems. A definite 5 star product.

5 Stars Great for any water based activity
I ordered this camera case for our recent White Water Rafting vacation and it worked perfectly. I was very impressed with the seal on this case… it makes the airtight seal sound when you open it which helped me to feel confident that my camera was going to be safe if plunged into deep water.

I was very impressed that this camera case allowed sound to be recorded when using the video feature.

The functions were easy to navigate (photo review, zoom, switching from photo to video, etc.) One thing you must keep in mind… you have to set the mode for shooting before you place the camera in the case… for example, we set the camera on the “Kids & Pets” setting to ensure clear photos while moving.

The only slight issue that we experienced was that there were two photos (out of 100) that were a bit skewed because there was a drop of water on the lens… ultimately wasn’t a big deal because the water beads up and falls off quickly, just something to keep in mind.

Overall… I LOVE THIS CAMERA CASE!!!! No more crap photos from those silly water proof disposable cameras.

5 Stars Incredible picture quality!!!!!!
This camera case was an invaluable asset to our honeymoon in French Polynesia. We got some amazing underwater pictures that just wouldn’t have been the same with a throw-away underwater camera (which we used on a previous trip). The case is very easy to use and the picture quality was perfect. I was a little unsure if spending the money on this would be worth it to us, but it DEFINITELY was.

4 Stars Great underwater case
I have had great luck with this case. Used it two years back to back and no issues at all with leaks or anything. Make sure you read the instructions and store it properly (not closed), so that it keeps pressure off the seal. Otherwise, lube it up occasionally to keep the rubber seal from getting dry and you have no problems.

    5 Stars Water proof casing
The waterproof casing was shipped in a timely manner and works wonderfully. Would reccommend this product

    5 Stars It Works!
Product works very well. Read instructions first! Now that you know how to use the case you’re fine. Be very careful with the gssket grease. A pea sized drop could be too much. The grease can collect sand and ruin the waterproof seal. I have only used it in a swimming pool to make sure I am comfortable before an outdoor venture. It works fantastic.

I took video of the swim team and they turned out sharp. Easy for a coach to teach better form when they can actually see it. The sound picks up as well kinda neat.

    5 Stars Great Buy
Simple to use, great device that was not available for my other cameras. Very happy with this.

    5 Stars Canon WP-DC27 — a short review

This is a fantastic product. Worked way beyond my expectations.

    Cheers

    5 Stars Excellent device
I got this for a trip to Costa Rica. I used it twice, once was for some repelling with water falls so it got very wet but worked perfectly and took some great pics. The second was for Scuba diving. I went down to about 60 feet and had no problems. Took a picture of a sand shark and it came out awesome.

      User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars Have used it 2X now and no leaks!
Works great! Little hard at first but you get used to it. Wish the clarity was better, but good for what I got!

5 Stars Great camera for the money!
I got this camera days before we took off for our diving trip to Belize. It works great. It has great resolution for pics but not so good for videos. However watching the videos on the computer screen is not that bad. I learned it the hard way but the lens gets foggy from the inside in hot days after you immerse it in water. There is an easy way to overcome this difficulty though. Just put a small bag of silica gel that comes in your new shoe boxes! It does the trick! After starting to use the silica gel bags I had no more issues with the fogging.

You can use the camera outside of the housing as well.

5 Stars Great camera for the money.
I’m basing 5 stars on value for the money. It is not a $1000 camera, but it’s worth well more than $100. I got this camera after seeing it in a local dive shop. I talked to the owner and they had nothing but good things to say about it. He was also selling it for $[...]. If your going to use underwater I would recommend the flash diffuser. I haven’t used on any dives yet. Just snorkeling so far. A word to the wise though. Amazon.com shows a 2 and a 4 gig memory card for it. DO NOT buy the 4 gig. It will not work as this camera only accepts up to a 2 gig. I made that mistake, which I’m not too upset about the 5 bucks, but I had to go out and buy a card that would work, which meant a trip to the store that I didn’t want to make, or waiting 3-5 days to get another shipped to me. That’s really Amazon’s fault not the camera. I’m very happy with it.

1 Star Gave it a second chance-no go.
We tried this out on our vacation snorkling in the Florida Keys. The cheap plastic lock broke and it opened up in the water. I was lucky to find the camera on the bottom of the ocean so I could return it.

I decided to give it a second chance, and had it replaced. This time, when using it, the inside of the case fogged up, so you could not see anything through the camera and all the pictures were fuzzy.

It was not worth it just for the point and shoot camera as the camera delay was long and there are better products out there, so we returned it in the end.

All in all, we probably got 1 half way decent underwater photo while being hopefull of getting more.

5 Stars Worked great for us
I had originally bought this camera as a gift for my son who is an avid SCUBA diver to use this summer while in the Keys. Not long after I purchased it, his mother decided to buy him a more expensive camera so I ended up keeping this one for myself. We had scheduled a cruise on NCL out of Miami to Nassau and Great Stirrup Cay so I took the Intova with us. My son talked me into trying a 1-tank dive in Nassau and we took this little camera with us. We used the camera both below and above the water and was pleased with the results considering the price we paid. I would recommend this camera to others for it’s simplicity, ease of use and results. Be aware that this was my first experience with underwater photography so I have no point of reference in that department but I am an experienced photographer above water. Another surprise was that the camera is equipped with AEB (auto bracket exposure) which is a great feature for any camera.

4 Stars Great Pictures – Still New Though
Have used the camera for 2 1/2 months – it takes great pictures and HD movies. My teenage daughter used it for a trip to Disneyworld she came back with great pictures and movies of July 4th fireworks. I’ve used it for nature photos and people/portrait shots at a family reunion, and it does a great job. We shoot everything in 16 X 9 aspect ration and pictures and HD movies look beautiful on our Panasonic 42″ plasma. (Mini HDMI to standard HDMI cable not included.) We use a Transcend 16 Gb SDHC card and it’s been happy with the card since it was first inserted. The only reason I didn’t give the camera 5 stars is that we have not tried any underwater shots yet…if it works as advertised there, my review will be FIVE stars. I have no hesitation recommending this camera, although if you don’t care about the waterproof capability you can probably find a cheaper camera that takes pictures as well.

4 Stars Panasonic DMW-BCF10PP Battery ONLY!
According to the Panasonic web site, on the firmware update page for the DMC-TS1, if you install firmware update version 1.2 in the DMC-TS1 camera (or if v1.2 is already installed), then the ONLY battery that will work in the camera is an “authorized” battery.

From the Panasonic page as of September 8, 2009:

          ———-

          [ Warning ]

For our customers safety, after this firmware update your Panasonic Digital Camera cannot be operated by unauthorised 3rd party batteries.

(Currently there is no authorised 3rd party battery available in the market.)

          ———-

Therefore, it seems that the only battery(s) that will work in the TS-1 camera is a genuine Panasonic battery, such as the Panasonic DMW-BCF10PP that is included with the camera. Note the PP at the end of the battery model number.

I bought a Power 2000 brand, model ACD-302 Rechargeable Battery, listed as a replacement for Panasonic BCF-10, at the same time that I bought the camera. The Power 2000 battery looks physically identical to the Panasonic battery, and fits perfectly in both the charger and the camera. But when the camera is powered up, the camera displays a message that the battery cannot be used, then powers off.

          ———-

          Added September 14.

The Lowepro Ridge 30 case is a good fit to the TS-1. The case easily holds the camera and wrist strap, two or three extra batteries in the pocket with the Velcro flap, and several memory cards in the zippered pocket.

The case has a belt loop to… er… put the case on your belt. It also has a detachable, thin shoulder strap. Well made, and claimed to be water resistant. (No need to send the case back to Lowepro every year for new seals.)

          3 Stars Nothing Spectacular
Normal camera with ability to handle underwater photo’s…..as they describe it, but photo’s are just average…

5 Stars An all around camera
If you’re the type to go through reviews after reviews before purchasing an item, well hopefully i can help.

After spending over a month researching and going to stores and reading all the reviews and head to head comparisons from the canon D10, Olympus tough 6000 and 8000 and Pentax w60 and the Lumix ts1. I finally decided on the TS1 for my all around camera and the camera to bring for my vacation to Hawaii.

Here’s the pros and cons i encountered now that I’ve had it for 2 months. I won’t go into detail about photo quality since you can get that info on other digital camera reviews sites. But I can say that my photos have turned out great especially if you know what this camera excels at.

          Pros

+ durable enough to take on hikes and to the beach without worry.

+ takes great photos and videos underwater

          + HD video

          + wide angle shots.

          + 5x zoom

+ no issue w/ battery life (lasts all day and night)

+ multitude of manual options and scenery choices

+ has point and shoot setting for the photo challenged

+ doesn’t look like an underwater camera

          Cons

          - Maintenance, if you take it underwater you have to before hand make sure no particles on the camera’s doors, ie lint, and/or dirt. But that is to be expected when you purchase an underwater camera.

          - seals do seem like it needs to be a bit thicker but i never had a problem w/ water getting to the battery compartment even after a week of constant drenching in the ocean either snorkeling, or kayaking. I did however clean it everyday if used in the ocean as per the instruction.

          - the zoom button isn’t in the best spot (in front of the capture button) and I wasn’t thrilled that it was a slider type.

I highly recommend this camera if you need it for a vacation and also one that you can use everyday. It’s not perfect but against the other cameras in its class, this one has all you will need.

4 Stars For Use with new Windows Movie Maker
Hey if you have Vista or Windows 7 make sure you get the new Windows Movie Maker that can handle this video. I simply drag and drop the file into Movie Maker and then chop it up how I want it and save my new movie. Worked like a charm!

Pros: Great at pictures and video. I used it on a mission trip to Alabama with my youth group and it did its job well. I even took pictures and video while in the Gulf of Mexico. I could put the camera on the Intelligent Auto mode, hand it to the kids and not worry about it getting wet or dropped and at the same time get good pictures or video. It is very easy to use.

Cons: Protect the screen on which you view pictures! I tossed this camera in a pocket in my backpack for the ride back from the Gulf of Mexico and when I pulled it out the screen was scratched up right in the center. I think I had my keys in the same pocket of the backpack but this camera sure wasn’t as tough as I thought it would be. Now I worry about the lens. I talked to Crutchfield about returning it and they would have let me but I still elected to keep it (outweighing the scratches were the free memory card and camera case from Panasonic).

Pointers: AVCHDLite that people complain about isn’t that big a deal. Free programs that you can download and use with the .mts file (that is the file type AVCHD hides in some obscure random folder so look for it) are VLC media player or you can install the FFDShow MPEG-4 decoder which when installed helps Windows Media Player play your .mts files flawlessly.
